
The office of the main election officer – Keral (CEO) Rathan U. Kelkar asked vs Sunilkuar, a candidate for the Communist Party (CPI) in surveys 2024 Lok Sabha in Thrissur to sign a statement/oath if he wishes with his accusation for election vote.
Statement/oath according to Rule 20 (3) (a) (B) registration of the 1960 voter voters requires Mr. Sunilkumar to confirm that his statement is faithful to his best of his knowledge and faith; The fact that he is aware that making a false statement in connection with election blinds is criminal under Section 31 of the 1950s Act on the 1950s Act and that the submission of false evidence is criminal under Section 227 Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhit, 2023.
On Sunday, the CEO of the CEO wrote to Mr. Sunilkar on Sunday, on the basis of a letter from the district election official (DEO)/district collector, Thrissur, with the fear of political parties in the election revision “were taken into account and destroyed in time”. The DEO letter to the CEO was in response to Mr. Sunilkumar’s notes on the media that was made on August 9.
In a letter to Mr. Sunilkar, the CEO of the CEO strongly condemned his remarks. It urged all parties involved to refrain from charging against election officials. Election officials fulfill their duties with impartiality, diligence and strict adherence to the electoral laws and the instructions of the Indian Election Commission. Constructive feedback and real complaints should always be directed through the relevant legal and administrative mechanisms, the CEO of the Director said.
“The right procedure”
When he was contacted, Mr. Kelkar said there was nothing extraordinary about finding a statement/oath. “We said we took all the steps. The district collector, Thrissur, also gave a detailed answer. So if it wants to continue, it’s the right procedure. It’s not a new thing we introduced,” he said.
