Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Severage Board (HMWS & SB) is to take measures on a special mission and expand the groundwater sources in the city as a sustainable solution to reduce demand for water tankers.

Several voluntary organizations conducted a preliminary survey and identified suitable places, the official said.
Another strategy is to convert unused boreholes into injection boreholes and community harvesting of rainwater. Through surveys, the Council also picked up 3,222 wells, of which 1,045 are power wells and 2,177 hand bores – 1,665 identified in the Core City and 1,557 in the suburbs.
The Board of Directors will also launch campaigns to raise awareness of the water pitch at the level of community so that closed communities and multi -storey building complexes construct sumps according to a specific requirement.
The whole exercise, informed Mr. Reddy, will be monitored over the GIS dashboard. The identified pits in public places will be marked. The developed special application will also include photos of points and location to monitor the progress of the structure.
