The Indian Communist Party (CPI) of the district conference Kottayam, which ended on Sunday in Vaikom unanimously elected VK Santhosh Kumar as the new district secretary of the party.
He comes from the Communist family in Poonjar and Mr. Kumar began his organizational work in 1978 as the secretary of the Federation All India Student Federation (AISF). He also acted as an auxiliary secretary of Meenachil Taluk. For 14 years he was the Secretary of the CPI POONJAR election district, followed by a district party assistant. He is currently a member of the party council.

Mr. Kumar is a member of the National Council of the Federation of Youth All India (AIYF) and holds the leading role in several trade unions, including President Meenachil Taluk Toddy Tapping Workers ‘Union, as President of the Workers Workers’ Meenachil Liquor Industry and District President of the SPCO employees. It also acts as a bearer of the State Office of Federation of Liqueur Workers and is a member of the Advisory Committee for the Minimum Wage of the State.
Criticism
Previously, the delegates participated in the district conference raised criticism focused on the main Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and the Ministers of the State Government. Critics pointed out that the government lost a left -wing character with all four departments led by CP. Further convictions were focused on the financial department for deductions of funds, which suppressed the CP department. Meanwhile, CPI’s leadership was described as weak and unable to stand on key questions.
Representatives of Aiyf, who participate in the conference, also expressed strong criticism of leadership, condemned the absence of youth representation in the Conference Presidium and criticized ignoring management for young members. They accused the party’s secretary of not attending AIYF meetings, and allegedly tried to suppress the youth outfit under the control of the party.
