People belonging to Thottia Naicker Community, medium -term castes who allegedly built the “wall of inviolability” to prevent access to the people belonging to the Arunthathiyar community, scheduled caste, in Karur in Tamil Nadu (August 9, 2025) 2025).
The wall, measuring about 200 feet in length and a height of 10 feet, was raised about three weeks ago to a piece of government land Poramboke, despite strong objections, which were immediately raised by the inhabitants of the SC community who claimed to be a “wall of inviolability”.
Since the construction of the wall has become the bone of the dispute between the caste Hindus and the members of the SC community. While the SC population claimed that the wall had to deny them access to areas where caste Hindus lived, the Hindus of the caste denied the accusations and claimed that they built a wall to prevent anti -social activities to “outsiders” under the influence of alcohol.
Members of the same transitional caste were reportedly blocked by ArunthatHiyars’ attempts to build a phase of organizational programs during the annual SRI MUTHUHUMARIMAN Festival and public toilets at Poramboke Land.

A few days ago, the revenue department announced to “Kothuukarar”, the leader of the intermediate caste group to remove the wall within 15 days, quoting that the soil to which the wall was increased was the Poramboke Government soil. In addition, there was no permission to construct the wall. However, the community representatives were satisfied that the wall was not to deny access to people SC, but to prevent anti -social activities of “outsiders”. Refused to pull down the wall.
The potential to perform a caste clash
Since this problem had the potential to cause castes in this area, the Ministry of Income on Friday evening on Saturday (August 9, 2025) delivered another announcement ordered by hindy castes to remove the wall by 11:00. A large number of them strongly opposed the event and organized a SIT-IN protest on Friday evening in a collector’s office. They returned to their settlement after the income officials showed that the wall would be demolished on Saturday.
When the revenue and police staff, led by the police superintendent Karur K. Josh Thangaiah, began to gather in a controversial place on Saturday morning, the leaders of the intermediate caste came to destroy the wall themselves. In the afternoon they began to dismantle the wall. No print and media persons were allowed to photograph.
M. Mohammad Bysal, an officer of the Income Division, Karur, said Hindu that the wall was completely overthrown and its foundation will be removed on Sunday afternoon. Members of both caste were asked to extend cooperation for smooth completion of the task.
