Rohit Sharma likely to report to BCCI CoE on June 8 for confirmation of eligibility; Virat Kohli doubtful for England ODIs too
MUMBAI: Former India captain Rohit Sharma is likely to report to the BCCI Center of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru on June 8 for a fitness assessment ahead of the upcoming three-match ODI series against Afghanistan. Rohit injured his hamstring during the IPL and was selected for the ODIs, subject to a fitness test.“Yes, Rohit is scheduled to report for the CoE on June 8. He is expected to be there for three days and has several sessions lined up, including batting under lights at one venue. He will then join the Indian team in Dharamsala on June 11, two days before the first ODI against Afghanistan on June 13,” informed the source.The injury forced him to miss several IPL matches and he played as an ‘Impact Player’ for Mumbai Indians.
Virat Kohli likely to be out for 6 weeks
Meanwhile, it has been learned that star batsman Virat Kohli, who also injured his hamstring during IPL 2026, is likely to be sidelined for at least another six weeks. This will not only rule him out of the Afghanistan ODI, but also jeopardize his participation in the three-match ODI series in England starting on July 14 in Birmingham.“He has a torn hamstring. The injury will not require surgery.
