A leopard attacked five people in Hassan, the forest department captured the animal
Forest department officials captured the leopard on Friday after it attacked five people in two villages in Holenarasipura taluk of Hassan district.
A leopard attacked four persons at Ankavalli around 8:00 AM. Jayamma, Nagaraju, Naveen and Jayamma were injured in the incident. The injured were taken to the Holenarasipur Government Hospital and were later shifted to Hassan for advanced treatment.
The same leopard subsequently entered Suresh’s shed in Boovanahalli village and attacked his wife Vasantha. Subsequent incidents prompted the department to launch a capture operation.
Conservator of Forests V. Yedukondalu coordinated the trapping operations with officers of the Leopard Task Force in Mysuru and officials of the Hassan Division. A team of officials and veterinarian Dr. Adarsha of Mysore. The three-year-old female leopard was sedated by a veterinarian and later captured.
As per the instructions of the seniors of the department, the animal was taken to a rescue center in Koorgalli, Mysuru, said a press release issued by the department.
