New Delhi: Indian Captain Shaubman Gill caused extensive praise for his standout performance in England, where he scored a phenomenal 754 runs and ended up as a leading score in his debut test series as a captain. Former Indian goalkeeper Dinesh Karthik praised Gill’s technical development with a bat and his composed media control during the tour. Karthik noted that Gill not only had doubts about his overseas form, but did so with conviction and confidence.“Sometimes he was aggressive – sometimes he crossed the border. I think it will silence a little, but I hope not much. “It’s one thing he says, but you have to back up with skill – and he did,” Karthik said.Karthik pointed out that Gill had shown previous vulnerabilities against the vans that had returned to him, but she worked on his technique clearly to overcome the mistake. The point of the series, according to Karthic, was Gill’s amazing performance in the second test in Edgbaston, where he scored 430 runs, including the double century and a hundred.“What excelled was his hunger and determination. It was 269 and century in Edgbaston and only the time he spent in the fold – it was really strange,” Karthik added. With a number of England, Gill is now preparing for the leadership of the North Zone in Duleep Trophy, followed by the India captain in a series of two tests against Western India, starting on October 2.
