Officers of the Ministry of Agriculture carried out a raid to the village of Seegod in Koppa Taluk from the Chikkamagalur district together with the police on Thursday and confiscated illegally carried bags of chemical fertilizers.
Officers carried out a raid in Subhash Nagar of Seegod, where they found a truck carrying 220 bags of urea along with 79 other bags inside. Loading the supplies took place when officers arrived.
Sujath hl, the joint director of the Agriculture Department in Chikkamagalur, said the officers confiscated the goods and assessed the value of shares for 5 Lakh. The seized shares were held in the primary agricultural credit company in Ballehonru. The samples were collected to determine the quality of the product.
Police confiscated the truck and took its owner Wilfred Lobo into custody. On the basis of a complaint filed by Thimman Gowd S. Patil, assistant director of the wing of agriculture, the Baleonnurian police registered the case.
Mrs. Sujath said that the ministry was determined to provide farmers of quality chemical fertilizers. Similarly, they would take strict steps against those involved in illegal storage or fertilizer transport, she added.
