Again, the fine fibers of Kannura’s legendary hand traditions travel to the capital. This Onam, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and seven trade union ministers will receive their onakkodi, festive clothing, woven in the heart of Kannura with qualified hands of Loketh Weavers in Melechovva.
Efforts, led by a team from the Directorate for Hand and Fabrics, include the creation of nine unique Kurt patterns – two contrasting color designs for the Prime Minister and one for ministers, including Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari and Rajnath Singh.
