The State Cabinet approved 18 accounts on Thursday, including Karnataka Ninadasi (Prevention, Prohibition, Assistance and Rezilitation), 2025 and Greater Bengalur (Dored), 2025.
The bill assumes that it will strengthen the fight against the 100 -year -old system of the ninadasi and is trying to replace the older Law on Karnataka ninadasi (ban and determination) of 1982.
HK Patil, who described this as the Social Area Act, Minister of Rights and Parliamentary Affairs, said it would be ensured that Ninadasis’s children would be treated with respect.
The proposed legislation also provides opportunities for Ninadasi’s children so that they are not forced to declare their father’s name when applying for a government identification card such as Passport, Mr., Aadhaar and a driving license.
The proposed bill finds 20 parties and includes the provisions for recognizing the right of ninadasi children to identify their father, potentially through DNA testing and eliminate the request of the father’s name on official documents.
It would liberate the oppressed ninety from various exploitation, said Patil.
The purpose of the bill should be more comprehensive access to the ninadasi system and exceed the previous focus on the prohibition to include measures for assistance and rehabilitation, Patil said.
Ninadasis and their children have long been looking for complex legislation that could end the evil system and provide the right relief and rehabilitation.
