Federation of Chamber of Commerce and Industry Karnataka on Thursday expressed serious concern about the decision of the United States to increase tariffs to certain imports from 25% to 50%.
“This sharp escalation in tariffs will significantly affect our exporters, especially MSME, which consists of the backbone of the India industrial and manufacturing sector,” said Uma Reddy, senior vice president FKCCI.
With stricter margins and less space to absorb shock cost, MSME was particularly vulnerable to these policy changes, said and added: “Increased obligations would reduce Indian goods on the US market, potentially leading to a decline in export orders, disruption of cash flows and slowing production.” ”
Mrs. Reddy, however, said that FKCCI would also like to consider it a turning point for the Indian industry.
Time to recalibrate
“The hikes for tariffs, although demanding, are pushing our MSMe to re -calibrate and reduce dependence on one market. We invite our members to explore newer geographical areas, strengthen product innovation and invest in quality and compliance to meet different global standards.”
According to Mrs. Reddy, this situation was brought by Mr. Trump the opportunity for India to pursue her position of a reliable, agile and value production center.
“We are convinced that the center will actively involve and negotiate with the US administration in the coming days before new tariffs are made. Strategic dialogue at the right time can help ensure Indian business interests, especially for MSME,” she said.
Govt. Assistance
It also urged the government to support the community of exporters through political intervention, export incentives and improved logistics and financial approach.
“As a top chamber, which committed itself to inclusive growth, FKCCI stood firmly with MSMes in Karnataka in navigation in this developing global trade landscape,” Mrs. Reddy added.
