
The KEPEGOWDA (KIA) International Airport, the third busiest airport in the country, settled 21.9 million passengers during the first six months of 2025.
According to financial results in Fairfax India Holdings Corporation, in the first six months of 2025, the airport of domestic personal traffic was handled 18.6 million and international personal operations of 3.3 million 2025.
“This growth has been supported by increased capacity from the main domestic and international carriers, the launch of new routes and the beginning of operations by new international airlines,” Fairfax India said in its interim report from 2025.
Fairfax India has 74.0% of its own share in Bangalore International Airport Limited (Bial), which operates KIA.
The company added that the volumes of cargo at the airport also increased.
“The volumes of the cargo also increased by 3.9%year -on -year, which is driven by continuing export growth with rapid destruction and increased demand for international aviation expenses due to the current geopolitical landscape,” she added.
He also said that the opening of domestic and international operations for the first phase of Terminal 2 during 2023 increased the annual capacity of passengers by approximately 25 million.
“During 2024, Bial revised its plan to expand airport infrastructure concerning several projects to be carried out between fiscal years 2025 and 2028, with the primary goal for increasing the availability and optimization of existing airport operations in preparation for expected growth in personal and air traffic,” she said.
Extension plans include new metro stations at the airport, upgrades to existing terminals, other traveling aircraft and new tunnels, connectors and sidewalks.
“Bial plans to increase the total capacity of the airport also remain in full swing and include the construction of the second phase of Terminal 2 to the fiscal year 2029 and the third terminal building in the fiscal year 2034,” the report said.
