Indian goalkeeper Dhruv Jurel was appointed Captain Central Zone Side for the upcoming edition of Duleep Trophy, which begins at the end of this month. Squad was officially announced on Thursday, August 7, with Jurel handed over the key leading role in the prestigious competition for home red balls.
The tournament, which has returned to its traditional zone format, will be seen by four teams including players who are in the Indian test group competition. This year’s teams were selected by Zonal committees – each including representatives of all states in the relevant zones.
One of the biggest mistakes for them is Karun Nair, who had an impressive performance in the trophy Ranji for Vidarbhu and returned to the test team. However, he was not appointed in the group. The reason for its exclusion must still be revealed.
The central zone will start its Duleep Trophy campaign against the northeastern zone 28 of August at BCCI Center of Excellence in Bengalur. The tournament offers a platform for top domestic artists to make a reason for testing, with India to play four tests in the coming months – two against West Indies in October, followed by two against South Africa in November.
