The left parties strongly condemned US President Donald Trump for 50% tariff to Indian exports and called him “bullying tactics”. They urged the government of the Union to firmly promote the strategic autonomy of the nation.
The Communist Party of the India-Marxist (CPI-M) Bureau policy said in a statement in Delhi that Mr. Trump’s announcement was “arbitrary, dictatorial and reflects the bullying tactics of the American administration”.
“The US and the EU are trying to arm countries like India, for continuing business relations with Russia, although they themselves continue to trade with Russia,” the party said, urging the Indian government to stand firm and resist that the government must take immediate steps to protect the interests of Indian exporters who will be increasingly affected by these tariffs. ”
CPI (m) also called on his units to organize protests on this matter.
The recommended weapon of trade relations was an attack on Indian autonomy and a gross attempt to enforce the excretion and decadent world order led by the US, said CPI Secretary General D. Raja. “Such steps are aimed at force independent nations to submit and undermine their right to carry out sovereign foreign and economic policy,” he said.
The Indian government should not allow the US to continue its threats and aggression of trade, Raja said. “India must firmly enforce his strategic autonomy and reject any external dictators on which he is economically or politically. A growing tilt in Indian foreign policy towards the United States through arrangements such as Quad (quadrilateral security dialogue between Australia, Japan and the US) is short -sighted and dangerous,” Raja said.
