CII, MCC to launch ‘Adopt-a-Stretch’ initiative in Mysuru
The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Mysuru chapter will launch the ‘Adopt-a-Stretch’ Road Adoption Initiative in collaboration with the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) on Saturday, which aims to place Mysuru among the cleanest cities in the country.
Under this initiative, member industries will adopt road sections around their campuses, while MCC will support the maintenance of these sections and curb illegal dumping through strict enforcement measures using technology.
The initiative promotes long-term cleanliness, environmental stewardship, civic responsibility and community participation through a strong public-private partnership model. “This partnership between industry, government and technology signals a data-driven effort to make Mysuru a model clean city once again,” says CII.
CII Mysuru has invited industries, educational institutions, resident associations, NGOs and citizens to join the initiative and support the collective vision of a cleaner, greener and more sustainable Mysuru. Participants will be provided with necessary instructions and safety instructions for cleaning activities.
Also, CII in collaboration with MCC and Young Indians (Yi) will conduct a clean-up drive on Saturday to mark World Environment Day. Under the theme “Inspired by nature. For the climate. For our future”, the initiative aims to promote environmental awareness, responsible waste management practices and community participation to create a cleaner and greener Mysuru.
Building on the success of the 2025 World Environment Day Plastic Clean-up Drive, this year’s initiative seeks to further strengthen collective action towards environmental sustainability and responsible community engagement, a press release said.
The clean-up will take place from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM along the Mysuru Ring Road, followed by an information session at JK Grounds from 09:30 AM to 10:00 AM. This meeting will bring together environmentalists, educators, industry leaders and students to discuss sustainable urban practices.
The breakfast after the meeting will offer space for networking and reflection. As part of the program, participating organizations and volunteers will carry out cleaning activities at designated locations along the ring road. “Environmental sustainability remains a shared responsibility requiring the active participation of industry, government, educational institutions and society,” the report added.
