The head of the opposition of several parties on Wednesday (August 6, 2025) wrote the spokesperson of Lok Sabha Om Birl and urged him to refer the bill on National Sports Act, 2025 and the National Anti -Doping (Amendment), 2025, 2025 for further control.
In the letter, they stated that the two accounts given for assessment and passage in the house need a wider consensus.
“With regard to their national importance, the need for a wide consensus and the value of consultations with the relevant stakeholders, we ask for respect that both of these accounts be transferred to the common parliamentary committee (JPC) for further conduct,” the opposition leaders said.

The leaders argued that the proposals of the proposal propose extensive reforms in the administration, regulation and ethical supervision of sport in India.
“They have serious consequences for our athletes, sports federations and Indian position in international sports bodies,” the letter said.
“JPC would ensure a more comprehensive and participating process that would allow careful control of the provisions, potential consequences and alignment with international standards. We hope that this request will be taken into account to help ensure fair and effective management reforms in the Indian sports ecosystem,” he added.
The National Sport Administration Act seeks to ensure the recognition of national sports bodies and regulate their functioning, while the National Anti -Doping Act aims to strengthen the Indian anti -doping framework.
The opposition comes after the government had two accounts to pass in Lok Sabha in the middle of the protests and disruption of the opposition over their request for discussing a special intensive revision of electoral roles in Bihar.
