Son Heung-min officially turned the page about its remarkable decades in Tottenham Hotspur and completed a highly profile move to Major League Soccer Side LAFC. A 33 -year -old man introduced the club at Los Angeles on Wednesday, where he opened up with an emotional farewell to Spurs and an unexpected way that led him to the United States.
The transfer, allegedly worth approximately $ 26.5 million, sets a new scale as the most expensive in MLS history. While the fee has not been published by clubs, the move signals the intention of LAFC to expand its international presence and compete for the highest honors in North America.
When his son talked to the press to reveal LAFC, he admitted that this step was not always on his radar.
“It’s a dream that comes true. La – what city,” he said. “If I’m honest, it wasn’t my first choice. But the first call I had with (LAFC co-chairman) John (Thorrington) changed my heart, my mind after the season.”
This conversation proved to be crucial. Thorrington’s vision for LAFC and its ambition to become a global force helped the son accept the idea of bringing his experience and go to Major League Soccer. He has now joined the team that pushes the play -off and hoped that he would have an immediate impact in the second half of the season.
The farewell of the son and Tottenham was emotional. His last match came in the pre-season friendly against Newcastle in Seoul-Petic Goodbye in his home country. Since his arrival from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015 he has become a defective character in Spurs, accumulated 173 goals in 454 performances, and wore the captain’s bracelet during the final victory in the European League at the beginning of this year.
In Los Angeles, the son meets with former teammate Spurs Hugo Lloris and accepts a new challenge with well -known ambitions.
“Los Angeles has a heritage of champions and I’m here to help write another chapter,” he added. “I came to win titles and give everything for this club and his fans.”
Since the StarDom Premier League to MLS Ambitions, Son’s Journey is far from over – it’s just bold new turns.
