Former judge of the High Court in Kerala Babu Mathew P. Joseph launched a seminar on “calls for the basic principles of the Constitution” jointly organized by the Indian Association of Lawyers and the Achuth Menon in the Indian Conference Thiruvananthapuram.
Mr. Joseph raised concern about the attempts that the Center had made to undermine state institutions and political parties by enforcing the idea of “one nation, one election”.
He also claimed the continuing efforts to use the governors as a tool for undermining the rights of states, violating the federal principles anchored in the constitution. Any measures are taken contrary to the Cabinet Council against unconstitutional administration. The governor is obliged to act on the council of the elected government, he claimed.
The seminar was chaired by the State Secretary of CPI Binoy Viswam.
