That’s why I got home safely.”I woke up to find my car under a truckThe 45-year-old said he fell asleep after the final and was woken up by the impact.“I was asleep. I fell asleep after the game when I was traveling. Obviously I wasn’t driving. Then I woke up to practically the front half of the car under a truck,” Clarke revealed.According to Clark, the driver later told him the truck’s brake lights were not working.“The driver explained to me that the truck’s brake lights were not working. So my driver rear-ended the truck. Again, it was a large semi-trailer and our car went under it,” he said.“That car is definitely a write-off,” he added.Concern for the injured driverWhile Clarke escaped with bruises, it is feared that the driver suffered a broken leg after the impact pushed on both of their legs.“I came away with some bruises, but I definitely think he had a bit of a broken leg,” Clarke said.He added that the driver was badly shaken and worried because the vehicle belonged to the company he worked for.“I was really concerned because he was so scared. It wasn’t his car, he works for the company,” he said.Clarke said he urged the driver to seek medical attention and hoped he would eventually go to the hospital.Thank you for the support of local residents and BCCIThe former Australian captain reserved special praise for the local people who rushed to help and the BCCI officials who checked on him and the injured driver.“Everyone at the BCCI, everyone there, checked him and checked me. They were unbelievable. So I’m very grateful for that,” he said. “It was a complete accident. These things happen all the time, but it was more of a shock to me because I was fast asleep and then I woke up and saw that I was so close to being under a truck.”Despite his dismay, Clarke managed to catch a flight home and fondly reflected on his next IPL job.“It’s not an ideal way to get home but I flew. I’m back here and I’m very lucky to have been part of another amazing IPL campaign. I’m loving it,” he added.
