In the middle of the controversy over Kodi Suni, convicted of the murder of TP Chandrasekharan, and an association allegedly consuming alcohol, while in custody, another accused in the case of murder was awarded.
Rajeesh (35) was released two days ago for personal reasons on condition that they had to stay in the district of Ernacula. The decision on conditional release attracted great attention because it coincided with the incident Kodi Suni, which led to the suspension of three police officers.
Member of the Advisory Committee for Prison P. Jayarajan defended this decision that “release cannot be denied to those eligible, just because someone else did something wrong.”
In response to a lawsuit against police officers who facilitated Kodi Suni’s drink, he said that disciplinary measures were taken against the officers on the basis of police intelligence reports and not for media pressure.
“The state government has explained that the discipline will be enforced regardless of the flags of the parties or the association,” he said, stressed that the conditional release was awarded on the basis of legal provisions. He added that it was wrong to blame the government for individual outages of police staff.
