
On Monday morning (August 4, 2025), two motorcyclists were killed in separate traffic accidents in South Kalamassery and Arakkunnam.
In the first accident, KK George, 53, of Mulanthuruthy, Was Killled When and Bus Belonging to An Engineering College Rammed His Motorcycle From Behind, Grievously Injuring Him, On the Mulanthuruthy-Arakkunnam Road Around College bus Drove Reckelessly and Hit the Motorcycle, Causing the Victim to Collide with and Lorry in Front Under the Impact.
Although he was hurried to a nearby hospital, he succumbed to his injuries. Police Mulanthuruthy registered the case and booked the driver.
In the second incident, Muhammed Salim, 42 years, Kodungalloor inhabitants employed by an online aggregator, knocked down by a private bus near the South Kalassery overpass around 9:30. He was reportedly worthy of under the bus and suffered serious injuries. He was reportedly on duty and headed for Aluva to pick up the van when his motorcycle was hit by a bus passenger in the same direction. Although he was rushing to the Government Medical College Hospital, Kalamassery, he succumbed to his injuries.
Police Kalamassery registered the case. In both incidents, drivers were booked according to sections 218 (driving rash or public driving) and 106 (1) (1) (causing death negligence) Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Two weeks ago, another private bus exceeding the speed of the 18 -year -old postgraduate student near the town hall Ernakulam. He was fatally knocked from behind by bus and tried to overtake the car. Police of Ernakulam Town North booked drivers on the basis of indebtedness for murder that does not apply to murder, and let him retreat.
Since then, the State Human Rights Commission has registered a SUO MOT -based case on media reports on an accident. Commission Chairman Alexander Thomas ordered the district collector to convene an appointment with the Chief of the District Police (Kochi City), a regional transport official, the head of the Road Safety Authority and the Secretary of Corporation to take immediate measures to reduce excessive speed and ruthlessly operating private buses. The collector was also asked to inform the Commission within four weeks of measures taken after the meeting.
