Suryakumar Yadav press conference: On Shreyas Iyer’s injury, his own form and the Australia series
But just when India seemed to be in full swing at 97 for 1 in 9.4 overs, the heavens opened again – decisively this time. A few inspections later, the referees called it off, leaving the fans disappointed and a promising game unfinished. The only positive sign for India was their captain Suryakumar Yadav finding form.Surya hit his trademark six over the deep square fence off the bowling of Josh Hazlewood. The Indian skipper was then given a reprieve when Josh Philippe dropped Surya off the bowling of Xavier Bartlett. Philippe sprinted back down the left from the halfway line, lunged full force and managed to get both hands on the ball but couldn’t hold on as it was just out of reach. The serve kicked in with extra bounce and SKY’s attempted lofted shot flew high on the bat, skimming over the umpire’s head before landing safely. The Manuka Oval pitch conditions, offering good bounce and possession, suited Suryakumar’s style of play. After reaching 20 runs, he stepped up his scoring in the hope of Nathan Ellis, 10th of the innings, with an uppish square-cut, off-drive and a powerful pull for a six before rain stopped play.Gill’s innings was equally impressive, combining cautious batting with aggressive hitting. Notably, he hit a six over the corner of the cow off left-arm spinner Matt Kuhnemann, which changed the momentum of the innings.

What do you think about the rain that affected the T20 match between India and Australia?
The match was abandoned twice in India’s 9.4 overs at the crease. The period after the first break proved particularly productive for India, with 54 runs scored in 4.4 overs. The wet conditions from the rain made it difficult for the Australian bowlers to grip the ball. The innings began with Abhishek Sharma scoring a quick 19 off 14 balls, including three boundaries off Xavier Bartlett. However, his innings ended when he failed to connect properly with Ellis’ slower delivery, resulting in a mid-match catch.
