88. All-India Kannada Sahitya Sammelan, which is to be held in Ballari this December, will create history, said housing, WAQF and Minister for Minority Blaho BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan, who is also district Minister for Ballari and Vijayanagar. He promised full support of the state government and district administration to ensure great success of the event.
The Minister chaired the preparatory meeting in the central office of Kannada Sahitya Parishat in Bengalur and said it was the pride and happiness for Ballari to host this literary assembly. He promised the government’s complete cooperation in the provision of the necessary infrastructure and support and promised a historical and unforgettable celebration of Kannada literature.
The Minister stressed that the District Administration will cooperate with Kannada Sahitya Parishat to facilitate the smooth and successful performance of the literary meeting.
President of Kannada Sahitya Parishat Mahesh Joshi noted that five Sammelanas took place in the undivided district of Ballari. He stressed the importance of an event that returned to Ballari after 68 years. He also told the meeting that the Parishat Executive Committee unanimously chose the BANU Mushtaq International Booker Prize winner as President Sammelana.
In response, Mr. Khan welcomed the decision by calling him progressive. “It was a proud moment for the Literary World of Cannada. Mrs. Mushtaq would be the fifth woman and the first woman from the minority community, chaired by Kannada Sahitya Sammelana. Hosting Sammelan in Ballari is a great honor for me and a question of personal pride,” he said.
Mr. Joshi introduced a short history of Parishat of Kannada Sahitya and the heritage of previous literary conferences. He emphasized the importance of adherence to the historical and cultural importance of Sammelana.
Deputy Commissioner Prashanth Kumar Misra promised that the district administration would expand all the necessary support to ensure the success of the event and express pride that Ballari was selected as a host city.
On this occasion, Mr. Khan, who became a life member of Kannada Sahity Parishat in 2012, was symbolically introduced with a special membership card as recognition of his continuing support for the cause of the language and literature of Kannada.
Later, the Minister and Higher Officials of the Ballari District Administration visited the interior and exterior of the central office of Kannada Sahitya Parishat. They expressed recognition for how the website harmoniously combines tradition with modernity.
