Eighty-six respondents linked to ten rival gangs operating in Asifnagar were booked by the Hyderabad police on Saturday (November 29) after a special court was held at the Hyderabad police station.
The session was chaired by Commissioner of Police and Additional District Magistrate (Executive) VC Sajjanar to curb recurring violence involving rowdy searchers, known offenders and members of rival Deendar Anjuman groups.
Binding over, a legal procedure where a person is required to enter into a bond to ensure good behavior or to appear in court for further proceedings, is ordered to remain calm for a specified period of time, or is held on bail to face trial in another court. If the conditions of detention are violated, the individual may be detained or sentenced.
Police submitted detailed reports detailing murders, attempted murders and other violent incidents resulting from retaliatory clashes between these gangs. Officers said the measures were aimed at restoring peace in the south, south-east and south-west zones of the city.
All the 86 respondents were bond under Section 126 of the BNSS Act, 2023. Police said any breach of peace during the one-year remand period will result in forfeiture of the bond and further legal action.
