The Indian National Highway (NHAI) handed over more than 8.50 GBP Crore to the public work (PWD) to upgrade the diversion roads from the 13 km Aroor-Thuravur NH 66 corridor, which is expected to be launched by an increased highway by February 2026.
This comes in connection with the traffic growl and accidents in the corridor, which was barricaded at the beginning of 2024 to build a six -lane elevated highway. Motorists and pedestrians complaining about frequent growth in the hallway were organized by Nhai meetings and the district administration of Alappuzha and Ernakulam, after which an action plan was prepared, among other things, to the corridor. They were directed to rely mainly on MC Road, which runs mostly in parallel with the NH 66, while several roads that took off from the national highway were upgraded and the narrow spaces were electric columns and other structures that were cleaned to satisfy the other number of vehicles.
Subsequently, it decided to pass another crore 8.50 GBP to PWD to upgrade more diversion roads. Meanwhile, Kerala Water Authority (KWA) was looking for a CRORE 30 GBP to move drinking water pipes from the NH corridor. The previous estimate for this purpose was CRORE 7 GBP, the sources said.
Meanwhile, Nhai has finished erecting apparatus for a raised highway in the corridor while the beams are running. A total of more than 130 boards on board were also installed. Overall, the agency completed 55% of work on an increased highway, while by August it would rise to 75%. At the same time, the agency began to build drains on both sides of the corridor, learning.
Moving further south, the six-mile work ended with 8 km 38 km long thuravur-paravur NH. In addition to the completion of the 80% expanding work of the bypass of Alappuzha, thanks to the extracted sand, which was made available from Vembanad Stockwaters.
