Air India Group has been ready to balance its domestic operations at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Dilli since October 26, 2025, because expansion work starts at terminal 3 (T3) to increase international passenger capacity. Infrastructure upgrade led by Delhi International Airport Ltd. (Dial) will reduce the home capacity in T3, which encourages air India and Air India Express.
Here’s what passengers need to know about the terminal changes:
- Air India’s home flights partially move to T2
Of the 180 domestic departures of the airline from Dilli, 60 flights will move to the upgraded terminal 2 (T2). The remaining domestic flights will continue to operate from T3.
- Air India Express will move all T1 home services
Air India Express will move its entire home network to Terminal 1 (T1), which has recently been reconstructed and expanded.
- International flights remain intact
There will be no changes in international operations. All international flights Air India and Air India Express will continue to deviate and arrive at T3.
- New flight numbers for T2 services
Flights are shifting to T2, carrying four -digit numbers starting with “1” (AI1xxx), allowing passengers to quickly identify the terminal of their flight.
- Check the terminal details before traveling
Air India recommended passengers to verify their terminal information through a reservation confirmation, SMS, or e -mail warnings, or the official airline website before issuing the airport.
- Smooth gears between terminals
The reserved shuttle service connects terminals 1, 2 and 3 every 10 minutes, which will facilitate the interconnection of flights to navigate the terminal changes.
- Trouble -free baggage and support on the ground
For passengers connecting between terminals, check -in luggage will be converted to eliminate the need to collect and review the need. Other ground staff, buggy services and special assistance will also be available to help travelers during the transition.
The aim of the terminal is to support the continuing expansion of the airport in Delhi and to alleviate overload and increase the overall passenger experience.
