The Bengaluru Traffic Police registered 789 cases during a special enforcement drive against drink driving and speeding that was conducted across the city between March 30 and April 5.
During the week-long operation, officers from 53 traffic police stations carried out checks at key intersections and main roads.
During the drink-driving crackdown, officials checked 42,558 vehicles and booked 638 cases against drivers who were driving under the influence of alcohol.
In a parallel drive targeting speeding, the police registered 151 cases and collected fines of ₹1.52 crore.
Officials said the initiative aims to curb violations that pose serious risks to road users and ensure safer commuting conditions in Bengaluru.
The traffic police added that these special drives will continue in the coming weeks as part of ongoing efforts to improve road safety.
