Bhupati, a graduate of the pedapall shop in Telangana, was a member of the CPI (Maoist) and was the brother of Kistenji, the dreaded Maoist leader in 2011 shot in West Bengal. Another sibling, Azad, was also Maoist killed 20 years ago.
Since the beginning of the uprising in the Mahari in 1980, 1,522 Maoists surrendered, 4 123 was arrested and 347 was killed in operations, showing government data.
