Hi friends! Happy Friday!
I hope you’ve all had an amazing week! Apologies for the radio silence—I only managed to publish two posts recently because we’ve been living in Seville for the past few days. One of the best gifts I gave myself before this journey was writing 12 blog posts in advance. It allowed me to truly disconnect and enjoy our time away, and now we’re back home, settling into our routine.
I’m incredibly proud of myself because I handled most of this trip as a solo parent. The girls and I flew across the ocean to Barcelona, enjoyed a few days there before embarking on our Disney Cruise, then flew down to Seville where we spent over four weeks. The pilot (my husband) was able to join us for the last few days. He was finishing up training to return to the airlines, and while we hoped the timing would align with our trip, it didn’t quite work out that way. Nevertheless, the girls and I made the most of it, and now that they’re older, things felt a bit easier. It was truly a girls’ trip to remember!
I still have some Spain-themed posts coming up, including travel tips, Airbnb recommendations, Barcelona’s gluten-free food scene, and more, so stay tuned! If you have any questions for those posts, let me know.
For now, I’m here in a cozy sweatshirt (bless) and hanging out with Miasey. I’d love to hear about your week and what you’re up to this weekend!
Here are a few highlights from our trip:
Incredible Dinner in Peter
This place wins for my favorite tortilla—trust me, I tried plenty during our stay!
Pollo Asado (aka Chicken Man)
We had Pollo Asado so many times in Seville because it was right down the street from our Airbnb. They roasted chickens on-site, and you’d tell the guy how much you wanted. He’d cut it up, place it in a container, and drizzle it with juice from the roasting pan. It was $11 and the BEST chicken I’ve ever had. I’m going to miss it!
Father’s Day at Isla Mágica
The pilot finished his training just in time to join us for Father’s Day at Isla Mágica, a water and amusement park. We went with four other families, and all the kids (and adults) loved it.
That evening, we went to La Carbonería, a bar with live flamenco. We arrived just in time for the show, which was perfect! We sipped on Tinto de Verano and enjoyed amazing flamenco performances.
Bullring and Museum
While I’d never participate in bullfighting, I was fascinated by the museum and learning about this important part of Sevillian culture and history.
Cañabota Dining Experience
We enjoyed an epic Michelin-starred double date with friends Sam and Tony. The meal was incredible—everything was fresh and beautifully prepared. I highly recommend it!
(The drink on the far right was "water gazpacho." It looked like water but tasted exactly like gazpacho!)
My Beautiful Friend Sam
I’m so glad our kids decided to be best friends forever when they were barely three years old.
Weekly Favorites
Here are some of my favorite finds from the week and around the web. I’d love to hear about your favorites too—share them in the comments below!
Fashion, Beauty, + Random
New Dress Alert! I grabbed this beauty at Corte Inglés (my favorite multi-level department store in Spain). Shop the Maksu dress here.
Spanish Manicure: I wanted a low-maintenance look for our trip, so I opted for flowers + a shadow that matched my natural nails. It’s been 7 weeks, and they still look fantastic. Props to the nail tech!
Read, Watch, Listen
- Podcast Episode: Don’t miss this week’s episode on why you might not be losing weight, even if you’re doing everything right.
- Movies I Watched on the Flight Home:
- West Side Story (The new version is phenomenal—acting, costumes, choreography, and cast are beyond amazing).
- Father of the Bride (Super cute and fun).
- Snow White (It was okay, but I feel like it got a bad review).
- Pearl Harbor (Can you believe I’d never seen the whole thing before?).
Fitness, Health, + Good Food
- Back to My Red Light Therapy: I’m loving my Lumebox red light again—it’s been an instant energy boost. (Use code FITNESSISTA to save $260!)
- Family Dinner: Making my famous Uncle E salad tomorrow.
- Grill Brush Upgrade: I ordered this brush because it doesn’t have metal bristles.
- Ice Cream Cake: Planning to make this ASAP.
Thanks so much for stopping by the blog today! Have a wonderful weekend, and I’ll see you soon!
xoxo,
Gina
