563 cases of drugs, narcotics worth ₹22.17 crore seized in Hyderabad in year
The Hyderabad city police have registered 563 cases and seized narcotics worth ₹22.17 crore in a year-long crackdown on the city’s drug network while stepping up efforts to identify and rehabilitate drug users.
The special operation, conducted by law and order teams and the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) between June 2025 and June 2026, focused on surveillance, disrupting supply networks and helping those struggling with addiction.
Jubilee Hills zone recorded the highest number of cases at 116, followed by Secunderabad at 99, Golconda at 95 and Charminar at 90. Rajendranagar recorded 84 cases while Khairatabad and Shamshabad recorded 49 and 30 cases respectively.
Marijuana accounted for the largest share of seizures, with police seizing 2,513 kg worth ₹12.56 crore. The seizure also included 55.3 liters of hash oil worth ₹6.91 million, 1,626 grams of MDMA worth ₹1.62 million, 129 grams of cocaine worth ₹64.50 million, 120 grams of heroin worth ₹570 and blond SD worth ₹570. ₹ 17.10 lakh and 220 grams of opium worth ₹ 1.25 lakh.
The police also intensified actions against local drug distribution hubs. In a recent operation Thunderbolt in Mangar Basti under Habibnagar police station limits, more than 1,100 personnel conducted a cordon and search operation and seized marijuana and illegal liquor.
Hyderabad Police is also working with NCB, DRI and EAGLE Force to bust drug networks.
As part of the identification of drug users, 1,550 suspected offenders and users underwent diagnostic drug tests in the field. Of these, 421 tested positive. Police said those who tested positive were referred to Gandhi Hospital, Erragadda Institute of Mental Health and private rehabilitation centers for treatment and counselling.
