51,000 appointment letters distributed in Rozgar Mela in the country: V. Somanna

Union Minister for Railways and Jal Shakti V. Somanna said that the Central Government is introducing several schemes to provide opportunities to the youth in the areas of skill development, employment and entrepreneurship, recognizing their role in the overall development of the country.

He was speaking after inaugurating the Rozgar Mela at the auditorium of the All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH) in Mysuru on Saturday.

At the Rozgar Mela, organized under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, appointment letters were distributed to more than 51,000 candidates in different parts of the country. The program reflected the government’s priority to create job opportunities for the youth, he said.

Mr. Somanna highlighted the Skill India Mission and the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana launched in 2015 under which several lakh youths have received skill training and certification. The number of Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) has also increased significantly, providing better access to vocational training, he said.

He said the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme had helped thousands of young people gain training and practical work experience. The Pradhan Mantri Setu programme, with an outlay of ₹ 60,000 crore, was aimed at upgrading around 1,000 ITIs and providing modern technical training facilities, he added.

Emphasizing the importance of entrepreneurship, the Minister said that the Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana provides loans to small traders, hotel owners, transport operators and small entrepreneurs. A large number of beneficiaries in Karnataka have also received financial assistance under the scheme, he said.

Mr. Somanna urged the youth to see their jobs not only as a means of livelihood but also as an opportunity to contribute to nation building. He advised the newly appointed employees, including those who have joined the Railways and other central government departments, to maintain integrity and honesty in their services.

He also highlighted efforts to expand educational opportunities in medicine, engineering and other fields of higher education, along with investment in education, health, skills and digital infrastructure.

Mysuru-Kodagu MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar said nomination letters were distributed to around 51,000 candidates as part of the Rozgar Melas event held across the country. He called the program an important platform for creating new opportunities for young people.

Mr Wadiyar said India has witnessed changes in the economy, infrastructure, employment and public welfare sector under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi since 2014. He also mentioned India’s growing international presence, poverty reduction efforts and initiatives like Swachh Bharat.

The country’s cultural heritage, including the yoga tradition of Mysuru, is also gaining global recognition, he said, calling for joint efforts for national development.

AIISH Principal Pushpavathi, CGST Commissioner Ravindra Radha, newly appointed candidates and officials were present.
