Hyderabad will witness the launch of a major cleft care initiative as global investment institution Lighthouse Canton has partnered with Mission Smile to enable 100 free cleft palate surgeries in Hyderabad and West Bengal by next month.
Hyderabad will witness 50 free cleft lip and cleft palate correction surgeries for children and young adults by March as part of a partnership between global investment institution Lighthouse Canton and healthcare non-profit organization Mission Smile.
The initiative is being implemented through an outreach center model at Unicorpus Word and Deed Hospital in Hayatnagar. Screening of patients started on February 9, operations start from February 10.
According to the report, comprehensive treatment will be provided free of cost to all selected beneficiaries. The support package covers transport to and from the hospital, accommodation, meals, pre-operative medical examinations, the surgery itself, medicines and subsequent post-operative care. Additional assistance such as psychological counseling and nutritional counseling will also be extended wherever necessary to ensure holistic recovery and long-term well-being of patients.
