New Delhi: “My Father Used To Say That IF Wealth Is Lost, Nothing Is Lost; If Health Is Lost, Something Is Lost; But IF Character Is Lost, Everything is Lost. SO, I Also Want My Students to Be As Genuine as Possible,” Days After HIS 19-YEAR-ALD PROTEGÉ SRIHARI LR Became India’s 86th Grandmaster by Attaining HIS THIRD GM NORMA AT The Asian individual Chess Championship in Al-Ain, UAE.Over the past few months, GM Shyam and his students have made waves for all of their elevation heroes. Since Pranav V has appeared as a champion of the world master Fide Junior to Srihar, who became the latest Indian Grand Master and enthusiastic coach who claims that in the coming months with God’s grace he will be on a mission to appear several other GMs in the coming months.See also: KRK VS RCB, iPL Live Score“I have been trained informally for almost ten years, but I felt it needed a name, so Thrulir’s chess was born.” Thulir “means Blossom in Tamil, like the flower flower blooms,” says Shyam Timesofindia.com by Sharjah. “It started online during Covid-19 and has gradually become a full offline academy.”Go beyond the border with our YouTube channel. At that time I felt the need for a proper academy where players could train professionally.”
Day at the academy
The uniqueness of Shyama Sundar coaching lies in its structured but liquid approach and covers all aspects: opening theory, practical psychology and even opponent’s evaluation.Session often starts at 10 am and stretches until 17:00, including strict games analysis and situational problems with one to half -hour break between them.Po-lunch, the team often heads outside, plays cricket or badminton: Routina, who built a commendable friendship in the group.“Everyone is equal to the lawn. The evaluation does not matter. We laugh, compete and bond. This is a huge part of the soul of the academy,” adds the coach. Most of the shyam training players are over 2300 ELO, including several international masters and grandmothers.Camps are usually done once or twice a month. During the camps, however, Shyam becomes a bit strict: “I usually do camps for specific rating consoles. Like I do for 2400+ players, I rarely include someone slightly under the only potential.
More than a mentor
Shhyam’s emotional investment in her students exceeds 64 squares when he adds: “I consider most of my students to be my own children. This helps them to open, not only about chess but also about life.”“I want them to play active, dynamic chess. No playing on draws. I led an example. Just as I play them, I push aggressively. They must see me to train what I preach.”However, he admits that Gen-Z’s thinking may be “complex”.“With so many online materials, my task is to direct the curiosity in the right direction, keep it structured and focused. Even after the camp, I continue to mentor and watch what they study daily, what kind of chess content they consume,” explains Shyam.“I am really glad that there is no unhealthy competition in my academy.
Calls to operate an academy
But care for champions does not come cheaply. “The operation of the academy is extremely stressful,” admits Shyam. “In Chennai I spend around 50,000 Rs a month only for the basics such as rent, electricity, wi-fi. And if I travel for 30-40 days with a player, the academy does nothing during this period. It’s a hard toll. Sometimes I feel like giving up.”There is also a growing pressure on expectations, when parents often require coaches for their children only GM and coaches, temptation with better offers, slipping.“Sometimes I feel like a reduction, fully moving online or just making comments or writing articles that would be much easier and financially beneficial.”However, the key factor of the sustainable success of the Academy is the chess ecosystem friendly to Tamil Nadu. Many schools in Chennai offer academic indulgence, award further holidays and understanding of players’ obligations, while providing financial support to miracles.“When Gukesh won the World Championship, his school gave him a car,” shares Shyam, who takes comfort in the success of his students despite the personal sacrifice of spending less time with his family.“I miss time with my family, now four of my daughters, and I don’t see her much. But I still say: To get something, something must be given.”Also read: RCB Fan, who became the world champion: the story of chess prodigy pranav V | Exclusive
What has the future …
With his students who have achieved a milestone after the milestone, Shyam remains in his method: “In today’s world -controlled AI we are flooded with computer -generated thoughts and influenced by social media. As they say, the brilliant mind can make elementary mistakes.
