The Sanketi Sangeetha Sabha at Hosahalli-Mathur near Shivamogga is celebrating its silver jubilee with a five-day music festival starting on May 27. Founded in 2000, the organization nurtures Carnatic music in the region.

At a press conference in Shivamogga on May 25, Sabha president HK Venkataram said that the organization has conducted a number of music programs and trained hundreds of students in Carnatic music. The silver jubilee festival will bring together renowned musicians from across Karnataka and beyond, all performing at the Gamaka Bhavan in Hosahalli.

The festival will be inaugurated by MLC Dhananjay Sarji in the presence of Kannada and Joint Director of Culture Department Ashok N. Chalavadi and other dignitaries.

The highlight of the festival will be a continuous 24-hour music program starting on May 30 at 6 pm and ending on May 31 at 6 pm. “The music will continue non-stop for 24 hours. We have invited singers and instrumentalists to perform overnight and into the next evening,” said Sabha secretary HS Venkatesh.

The festival will conclude on May 31 with a gala event during which the organizers will thank five loyal music enthusiasts who have been devoted members of the Sabha audience over the years – a fitting tribute to the listeners who have kept the spirit of Carnatic music alive in the community.
