TS Srivatsa, Krishnaraja MLA, claimed that there are more than 5.6 lakh beneficiaries of MUDRA scheme in Mysuru district.
Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojane (PMMY) is a scheme launched by the Government of India in 2015 to provide loans to non-corporate, non-agricultural small and micro enterprises.
At a press conference held in Mysuru on January 16 to announce the selection of Saraswathi M, a MUDRA recipient from Ramakrishna Nagar in the city, to witness the Republic Day Parade in New Delhi on January 26, Mr. Srivatsa said that the number of MUDRA beneficiaries in Mysuru district came up for discussion when HD Union and Union of Steel Ministers Hewavy came under discussion during the government’s review of the scheme. during the last meeting of DISHA in Mysuru.
While ₹3,000 crore was disbursed under the scheme to beneficiaries in Mysuru district from 1 April 2025 to 31 October 2025, the total amount disbursed in the district form from 2019 to 2025 was ₹10,000 crore.
As Mysuru district accounts for 5.6 lakh beneficiaries, each of the 11 assembly segments in the district has about 50,000 to 55,000 beneficiaries, Mr. Srivatsa said.
Ms. Saraswathi has received a letter from her bank, Union Bank of India, about her selection by the Financial Inclusion Section, Department of Financial Services, Government of India, to witness the Republic Day 2026 ceremony in the MUDRA Loan Beneficiary category. She is accompanied by her companion Pushpa P.
The State Level Banking Committee (SLBC) will arrange her travel and stay while the bank will bear all related expenses, the selection letter said.
Ms. Saraswathi, who runs a tailor shop and boutique at Ramakrishna Nagar in the city, has successfully repaid the loan twice and received financial assistance under MUDRA for the third time.
Mr. Srivatsa said she first received ₹2.5 lakh before repaying the same and received another ₹6 lakh, which was also cleared. On the third occasion, she took a loan of ₹10 crore from MUDRA.
Talking to reporters, Ms. Saraswathi shared her happiness that she is not only doing well but also giving work to two or three other people.
She said that she used to live in a rented house but now she is able to own a house. She will leave for Delhi to witness the Republic Day parade on January 24 and return on January 28.
