Delhi Capitals fans heaved a sigh of relief and celebrated after the team avoided the record for the lowest total in IPL history. After being asked to bat first at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, the Capitals threatened to create an embarrassing record against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in New Delhi.
At one stage, The Capitals were rolling at 13 for sixflirting with the lowest total in IPL history. In fact, when Josh Hazlewood dismissed Nitish Rana, DC were reeling at 8 for 6 in 3.5 overs. At that moment, even 49 seemed far away. In 2017 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, RCB created a dubious record after being dismissed for 49 in 9.4 overs against Kolkata Knight Riders.

Supporters on social media also rejoiced with relief that the record remained with RCB and that DC would not be at the top of this unwanted list.

HOW RCB DOMINATED THE CAPITAL OF DELHI
RCB produced a merciless bowling display to bowl out DC for just 75 in 16.3 overs, with Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood spearheading the carnage. The tone was set right in the opener when Bhuvneshwar bowled debutant Sahil Parakh with a searing dandy yorker.
From there, the collapse quickly picked up speed as Hazlewood struck with his very first over, removing KL Rahul before dismissing Sameer Rizvi off the next ball to leave DC reeling.
Bhuvneshwar was equally devastating, picking up three wickets in his opening spell, including Tristan Stubbs and Axar Patel, as Delhi soon crumbled under pressure. The new-ball pair extracted movement, maintained relentless accuracy and gave the batsmen no room to settle, leading to the lowest powerplay total in IPL history.
Although Abishek Porel tried to resist with a fighting 30, the damage was already done. Suyash Sharma and Krunal Pandya tightened the screws in the middle overs before Hazlewood came back to finish things off in style and claim four wickets.
His pinpoint yorker that cleaned up Porel summed up a clinical performance as RCB completely dominated DC in one of the most one-sided bowling efforts of the season.
