In two years, Tamil Nadu Medical Services Corporation (TNMSC) has 40 products – drugs and injections – and three companies, especially for failure to meet quality control.
According to TNMSC data, an organization that was established to streamline public procurement, storage and distribution of basic drugs for government hospitals, was included in the black list in 2023–2024. During the years 2024-2025, there were 26 black list products, 22 of which were related to quality and four for ending shopping orders. In 2025, a total of 14 products were still on the blacklist, all related to quality disorders.
During 2023-2024 (two for non-leading orders and three for quality reasons, five TNMSC companies were during 2024-2025 during 2024-2025 during 2024-2025.

How quality checks are performed
TNMSC officials reported that drug quality controls are carried out according to the relevant pharmacopoeia (such as the Indian pharmacopoeia, British pharmacopoeia, the United States pharmacopoeia) at their entrance level in warehouses via NABL (National Accreditation Council for Testing and Calibration Laboratory). In the case of any unfavorable reports from empaneous laboratories, the same drugs are re -tested in government laboratories in the State – Laboratory on Teynamnet and Guindy. Currently, TNMSC has contracts with 12 laboratories located across the country.
The best reason for blacklist products is the failure to meet quality standards, the official said. Blacklistism is performed for products due to quality/offer failure and for companies as a whole for quality failure.
According to the details of the Blacklisting on the TNMSC website, the “not standard quality” is the main reason for the blacklist of a particular drug. “Orders that are not made” and “Non -standard quality” are other reasons. In fact, there was one remedy for a black list for “the presence of an iron piece inside the tablet”. For companies on black list since 2024, the main reason for the drug is the wrong brand.
Warehouse monitoring
TNMSC warehouses are monitored through a centralized portal – a system of distribution management – for the acceptance of shares, the process of sampling, receiving laboratory reports, distribution to medical institutions and its management of funds. Drugs expired for life are liquidated through biomedical waste management agencies approved by the TN pollution Council once a year, the officials added.
As far as equipment is concerned, TNMSC only provides standardization certificates such as European CE/US FDA/equivalent Indian standards, they said.
