Interior Minister AMIT Shah announced a great victory in the ongoing Indian Battle against Naxalism on Wednesday and revealed that the security forces were expelled by 31 notorious naxalities in the Kurraguttal hills (KGH) located on the border between Chhattisgarh and Telangana.
Shah described the operation as the largest and most important of its kind and praised the efforts of the Central Reserve (CRPF), Special Task Force (STF) and the staff of the District Reserve (DRG), who successfully completed the mission in just 21 days without maintaining any victims.
In the paper on X, the Minister of the Interior said: “Achieving the historical breakthrough in the determination of #naxalfreebharat, the security forces killed 31 notorious naxalities in the Kurraguttal hills on the edge of Chhattisgarh-Telangan in the greatest operation against Naxalism.” Congratulations to the security staff for their bravery and resistance, especially due to the demanding terrain and the unfavorable weather conditions they faced during the operation.
The hill of Kurraguttal has long been a critical fortress for Naxal groups and serves as a unified headquarters for main organizations such as folk folk liberation guerrilla army (PLGA) Battalion 1, DKSZC, TSC and CRC. The hill was not only the basis for training, but also a center for planning strategies and production weapons. Shah stressed the symbolic importance of the operation and said, “The hill on which the red terror once ruled, today’s tricolor proudly flies.”
The operation called “Operation Black Forest” bridged a large area of approximately 1,200 square kilometers. CEO CRPF Gyanendra Pratap Singh confirmed the recovery of 31 bodies, with 28 of the deceased naxalities identified. He added that the operation included coordinated efforts from the COBRA, CRPF and CHHhattisgarh Police and intelligence units suggesting that even more naxalities could be neutralized during the campaign.
Amit Shah reaffirmed the government’s commitment to eradicate naxalism and repeated the goal set under the leadership of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to liberate India from naxal influence to 31 March 2026.
