Manchester City chief Pep Guardiola rejected the idea that the 2024-25 season was a disaster for his party and claimed that the third place he received was better than his previous victory in the title. The city fell from the pace this season this season and almost missed the Champions League football before he met together and got into the competition.
It was the second season of Trophyless in his career Guardiola, but she said it was not a disaster for his party. The urban boss, who spoke to Reuters, said he wanted to suffer when he did not win and feels that everyone in the world to feel different experiences.
“I want to suffer if I don’t win games,” Guardiola told Reuters in an exclusive interview. “I want to feel bad. I want to sleep badly. I want that if the situation spoils, it affects me … I want it!”
“I’m angry … My food, it tastes worse … I don’t have to eat much because I have to feel it (anger). Because if it’s not the point, what meaning it should? Win or lose … We’re here in this world to feel different experiences, different moods.”
Guardiola continued to say that the 2024-25 season was the most valuable for him because he could learn a lot.
“You judge happiness if you win. You judge success if you win and win. And that’s a problem,” he said.
“I will not judge myself or my team because of bad seasons or good seasons … Maybe I’ll end up third in the season and never give up otherwise that you will end 10 or 12., maybe it’s a better season than when we won the fourth Premier League in a row.”
“We faced so many problems that were higher because of injuries, relaxation, I wasn’t good enough … for many reasons. Maybe the analysis of my period was that the last season was better. Qualifications for the Champions League when we were on the verge to get it.”
“The winners are boring”
When Guardiola thought about his failures, he quoted former Uruguayan President Jose Mujic and said that success is about how many times you will stand after the fall.
“Success is how many times do you stand up when you fall.” He added, “Fall, stand up. Fall, stand up … that’s the biggest success.”
“The winners are bored,” he said, adding that he always looked forward to interviewing players and coaches from the loss of parties. “It is nice to see the losers. At that time you really learn.”
City and Guardiola will try to mount a stronger challenge next season.
