A 29-year-old man is fighting for his life at the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial (MGM) Hospital in Warangal after allegedly undergoing botched piles surgery by two unqualified doctors at Mangalavaripet village near Narsampet on November 13.
According to the Telangana Medical Council (TGMC), the man, identified as Rajinikanth, was operated on by an elderly woman named Kausalya and a rural general practitioner (RMP) identified as Chittibabu. Later that night, he went into hypovolemic shock (severe blood loss) and was taken to MGM Hospital in critical condition around 11:00 p.m.
A team of doctors at the hospital performed an emergency procedure to control the bleeding. Following a complaint filed by the victim’s mother, TGMC officials visited the hospital on November 14. TGMC Public Relations Committee Chairman Naresh Kumar and District Anti-Quack Committee Member M. Dilip Kumar met the patient and gathered details of the incident. The authorities have announced that an investigation will be initiated and cases will be registered against Kausalya and Chittibabu of Mangalavaripet.
The council warned the public against accessing RMP for treatment. She reiterated that RMPs are not medically qualified and are not authorized to provide allopathic treatment, perform laboratory tests or perform surgical procedures.
