Criminal cases were registered against 24 two-wheeler riders for riding on the wrong path during a special enforcement drive conducted by the Cyberabad traffic police in Madhapur on Friday.
The journey was conducted along the 100-feet long road, Cyber Towers, COD junction, Durgam Cheruvu and Mindspace stretch under Madhapur Traffic Police Station limits. Officials said the operation was aimed at curbing the growing menace of motorists breaking traffic rules and endangering other road users.
Madhapur Traffic Inspector A. Sridhar Kumar noted that until now the police issued challans for such violations, but many commuters took the offense lightly. “Irregular driving has become a serious safety issue. Despite repeated penalties, violations have continued. As per the commissioner’s orders, we have now started ordering criminal cases to act as a stronger deterrent,” he said.
