220 teachers in Kerala promoted as Principals of Secondary Schools or AEOs

The Department of General Education has issued an order to promote 220 government high school teachers to the posts of State High School Principals or Assistant Educational Officers (AEOs) in AEO offices.

Around 250 places were learned to be vacant even though the new academic year started more than a month and a half ago in June.

The absence of principals in secondary schools should have had an impact not only on curricular and co-curricular activities, but also on the administration of the institutions.

With the Onam exams just a few weeks away, schools and teachers’ organizations have been pointing out delays in the promotion of principals.

The promotion is conditional on the teachers passing the teaching qualification test by August 31, 2028, as per the Supreme Court judgment of May this year.
