The Chants referelona returned in the La League after Barcelona played one of the most bizarre opening games in recent memory. Back as a champion champion, Barcelona may have expected a festive start, but instead on Saturday 16th August found themselves in the center of furiousness in the son Estadi Mallorca Molix.
The tension from the home fans was understandable after Var refused to review the accumulation of the Raphinha’s introductory goal in the 7th minute. Lamine Yamal, located on the right touch line, seemed to have kept the ball in the game after it had already crossed the line before delivering the chipping passage to Raphinh, who slipped into the first goal of the Barcelona season.
While this incident could be considered 50-50 calls due to the absence of a definitive angle of the camera, what followed, plunged the game into a fully blown controversy.
Head injury
In the 23rd minute Yamal cut in and released a powerful strike of the left -wing leg hit by Captain Mallorca Antonio Rallo on his head. Rallo immediately collapsed, clearly in need. When Mallorca’s players stopped and appealed to stop the game, Ferran Torres threw himself on the free ball in front of the box and turned the shot around the goalkeeper Le Norman – who himself anxiously looked at his affected captain.
Despite the obvious head injury, the referees allowed the game to continue and the goal. Mallorca players surrounded the protest of officials and insisted that they stopped playing because of Rallo. Their requests were waved.
After the match coach Barcelona Hansi Flick defended this decision.
“I always tell my players not to stop until the referee throws the last whistle. He’s a referee who has to decide,” Flick said.
The red card mayhem
Soon afterwards it was cooked. Midfielder Mana Morlanes, already on the yellow for dissent, was sent in the 33rd minute after a foul on Yamal. Six minutes later, Mallorc’s suffering was deepened when the attacker to lead Muriqi received a straight red card for a high challenge for Joan Garcia – the referee after the VAR review upgraded his initial yellow.
On the other hand, the ruthless lunge from Raphinha on Mallorca was unpunished. The commentators noted that it could easily guarantee a red card, but Va decided not to intervene.
Yamal seals the result
Below to nine men before half -time, Mallorc’s hope for rescuing everything evaporated. Yamal, in the heart of almost every key moment, limited his night with a late goal in the second half to close Barcelona victory.
What should be a festive return for champions instead of acrimonia – a match to be less remembered for Barcelona football, and others for the reigning, which again supported the singing of “references”.
