
Two Chinese flying cars collided in the air on Tuesday 16th September during a test flight for the upcoming air show Changchun. Both vehicles belonged to the XPEng AeroHT, a units of the flying car of the Chinese electric vehicle (EV) MAKER XPENG INC.
According to Global Times report, Xpeng Aeroht confirmed that two of its electrical vertical take -off and landing vehicles (EVTOL) were “established” during training. One of the vehicles later aroused fire after impact on the ground.
What happened during the exam?
The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon, just a few days before the air show Changchun 2025, which will start on September 19. XPENG said both Evtols were performing a formation flight when they led insufficient spacing to the collision.
What was the result of the accident?
One of the flying cars landed safely, while the other suffered damage to the fuselage and rolled out when landing. Visuals circulating online showed firefighting engines on the spot that released fire.
Was there any injuries?
The company has confirmed that there are no victims. “All staff on the scene are safety and the relevant department has solved the situation in a proper way,” Xpeng Aeroht said in his statement.
Xpeng Aeroht, founded in 2013, said the cause of the incident is the subject of investigation.
