
Main Minister Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Tuesday that Assam Civil Service (ACS) officer, who was arrested for alleged ownership of unduly wealth, accumulated assets 400 times more than her known sources of income.
Special Vigilance CM on Monday arrested ACS officer Nupur Borah after searching in her house to recover over more £92.50 lakh in cash and jewelry worth almost £1.5 crore.
At the time of her arrest she was sent as an officer of Circle in Goraimari in the district of Kamrup.
Borah has been supervised in the last six months. While it was published as an officer of a circle in a barpet, she allowed an illegal agreement on the transfer of land for which it was later moved from the district.
Sarma said that criminal measures of suspension or release from work are monitored to ensure that the officer is considered to be responsible under the law.
“She has accumulated wealth 400 times more than her known sources of income. We think not only suspension or release from work would be enough. We must ensure criminal measures through a legal process,” Sarma said on the sidelines in the Baksa district.
Several others have also participated and are questioned, the main minister said.
“It is my request for the public to be vigilant and inform us if an official asks for bribes,” he added.
Police manager, strange vigilance cm cm, Rosie Kalita, said in Guwahati that Borah was arrested on the basis of a preliminary investigation.
“We searched her apartment in Guwahati and rented accommodation in a barpet and recovered through.” £92.50 Lakh in cash. It is still the largest amount of cash so far, ”Kalita said.
The arrested officer has two land and three apartments in her name in Guwahati, in addition to renewed cash and jewelry, SSP also stated and added: “These are all preliminary findings. The investigation is underway.”
