The draw for selected beneficiaries of 1,920 affordable flats in Indiramma Housing towers to be constructed in LB Nagar, Musheerabad, Goshamahal and Chandrayangutta assembly constituencies was held on Tuesday. Hyderabad in-charge minister Ponnam Prabhakar said that houses in Indiramma will also be sanctioned for people who have land in the city but cannot afford to build a house.
Inaugurating the draw along with Goshamahal MLA T. Raja Singh, Mr. Prabhakar said that ceremonies would soon be organized in the four constituencies. The government has previously announced plans to build 1,000,000 affordable apartments within the Core Urban Region Economy (CORE) limits. Lands belonging to the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) and the police department have also been allotted for the construction of residential towers for the poor, he said.
So far, the beneficiaries have been selected for affordable flats – which are yet to be constructed – in 20 assembly constituencies within the outer ring limits (ORR).
Board vice-chairman VP Gautham said the notification would be published for houses in four other constituencies within the ORR limits.

On Wednesday, the board will draw lots for the redistribution of 1,700 flats in the council’s other 14 constituencies. While the process of selecting beneficiaries in 16 council wards, including 14 wards, was completed in August last week, some of them were found ineligible during field level verification and other reasons. People who have already applied for houses and found them eligible will be included in the draw. This would be streamed live on the Housing Department’s YouTube handle
