Four men and adolescents were detained after the 18 -month -old boy in Delhi Karol Bagh was kidnapped and “sold” for 45,000 GBP, the police said on Sunday (September 28, 2025).
The child was rescued from Mahoby in Uttar Pradesh. Among the arrested is a 54 -year -old man, the father of two daughters who took a toddler after offering the money to the accused because he had no male child, they said.
The incident came out on September 24th, when the complainant Mukesh, a seller of Rajasthan craft, said that his son disappeared while the family slept on the sidewalk on the road near Hospital Ram Hospital Red Light after participating in the fair.
Based on his complaint, the case was registered and a special team was created. Investigators “analyzed the shots of more than 100 CCTV cameras and watched two men on a scooter with a hidden number that was suspiciously in areas, including Rajender Nagar, Prasad Nagar, Connaught Place, Mandir Marg and Paharganj,“ police deputy) Nidhin Valsan.
The suspects were later seen to convert the child into a white car near the RML hospital, the police said. The car was traced to Kali Bari Lane in Nový Delhi, which led to the arrest of three accused identified as Anant (22), Raju alias Rishi (24) and Kumar (21), while the 17 -year -old was also charged.
“During the interrogation, they revealed that the child was sold in one Belyn Srivas, aka Santosh, who was also arrested,” Valsan said.
The kidnapped boy was safely rescued from Mahoba and brought immense relief to the family. The police also confiscated a scooter, a car used in an offense and 5,500 GBP in cash.
The investigation revealed that Srivas, who has two daughters, expressed the desire to have a male child and offered up to 1 ₹ Lakh the defendant based in Delhi, who hatched the child’s kidnap plan.
They kidnapped the boys from Karol Bagh and sold it to Srivas for 45,000 GBP. Further investigations are underway, the police said.
