
The US government deported 1,703 Indian nationals, consisting of 141 women, so far in 2025 from 20 January to 22 July, the central government said Parliament 1 August. The Ministry of External Affairs “strongly registered his concerns” with them for the treatment of deported.
“Between January 20 and July 22, 2025, a total of 1,703 Indian nationals were deported to India. 1,562 men and 141 women were,” the ministry said.
She added: “The Ministry strongly registered its concerns with the US authorities about the treatment of deported, especially with regard to the use of handcuffs, especially women and children. Concerns about religious/cultural sensitivity, including the use of turbans and diet preferences, were also formally accepted with the US party.”
However, the ministry noted that after 5 February 2025 did not receive any complaint about the treatment of deported in any flight.
The State Minister for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh also reported Lok Sabha in a written answer to another question that 5541 Indian nationals have been deported from the USA over the past five years.

Most deported from the pandjab, followed by Haryana, Gujarat
According to data, 1703 Indian nationals were deported in this time frame. Of these, 620 were from Punjab, 604 from Haryana, 245 from Gujarat and 10 from Jammu and Kashmir. Another six individuals were categorized according to “unknown” states.
The methods of deportation used
Kanimozhi also asked about the methods of deportation used, which the Minister dealt with in his answer. He said: “Between January 20 and July 22, 2025, a total of 1,703 Indian nationals were deported to India. 1,562 men and 141 women.”

According to shared government data, from 1,703 Indian nationals deported from the US, 333 were returned in February through US military flights. Another 231 was deported in March on rented years operated by American immigration and customs enforcement and recovery and removal (ERO). In July, 300 individuals were repatriated on charter years organized by the Ministry of Internal Security (DHS).
In addition, 72 deported from Panama arrived in India, traveled individually or in small groups for commercial years because their tickets were arranged. Similarly, the 767 deportations returned from the US to commercial flights, which also arrived individually or to small groups, depending on the availability of their travel arrangement.
