The 17 -year -old boy was reportedly shot and injured by the police in Payppaakudi, Tirunelvel, soon on Tuesday (July 29, 2025), after he and his collaborator reportedly attacked the Dalit youth with a machete and tried to attack police staff.
According to the police, two seventeen -year -old boys from Payppaakudi in the district, both belonging to the majority of the backward community and have already faced several cases, attacked Sakthi, 22, from Rastty near Pauppakudi, with a machete around 1.30 hours injured in the attack.
Police of Payppaakudi, led by a sub-inspector Murugan, threw herself into a place.
When the boys who carried machetes also persecuted the police, they broke away for safety. Mr. Murugan entered a nearby house. As soon as the police officer entered, the residents of the house locked the main door.
“The adolescent armed, who followed Mr Murugan, landed on the door with machetes. However, the sub-insector of the police launched fire at one of the attackers who was injured in the side.
The wounded was admitted to Tiruneli Hospital Medical College Hospital.
Several villagers said that the problem began after a smaller spear broke out between two castes that left the place after the police entered the village. “However, both adolescents, carrying weapons, tried to attack the police, which led to launching,” the villagers said.
Police Paappaakudi is on the pursuit of to charge the teenage who escaped.
