Commissioner of Nellore Municipal Corporation (NMC) Yo Nandan on Friday (September 12, 2025) asked 1,500 tax defaulters to reject the fees and reject cases on Saturday (September 13, 2025).
In an interview with Hindus, he said: “Strict measures will be taken against real estate tax, water tax, unoccupied tax tax and business license tax, as well as buildings who carried out unauthorized construction or violated permission within NMC.”
Before filing criminal cases against them, the taxpayers were already issued a notice of preliminary proceedings, the Commissioner said, asking them to take advantage of this opportunity to give up the cases.
“Tax payments can be made at the NMC tax collection center, which was established in the District High Court. Those who do not pay taxes, including arrears, will be punished for up to three years,” he warned.
According to the Supreme Court orders, the National Lok Adalat will take place every three months in the district court under the auspices of the District Office for Legal Services (DLSA).
The legal measures will be taken by DLSA to those who have a huge amount of arrears, not just ordinary defaulters, the Commissioner said.
